“JUROR: Mark Ormond, an independent curator, writer, lecturer and consultant.
Art Center Sarasota invited contemporary artists from across the nation to submit work for Sarasota’s premier national open, all media, all subjects, juried exhibition. Visitors will have an opportunity to see diverse artistic mediums and talent both locally and nationally.
Studying each work of art I sought to discover the challenge that each artist had set for themselves in their chosen medium. I particularly appreciated those that added to the language and method of expression that already exists in that medium. The ten award winners demonstrated exceptional achievement and success. -Mark Ormond
In Miami from 1990-1994, Mark Ormond was Director of the Center for the Fine Arts (now the Perez Art Museum). From 1978 until 2000 he worked in art museums including the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art where he was Curator of Twentieth Century Art, Senior Curator and Deputy Director for Collections and Programs. Mark was Associate Director of Greene Contemporary in Sarasota from 2006 to 2008. Throughout his career he has organized more than a three hundred exhibitions.”
